The International Conference on Hispanic/Latino Media and Marketing originated in 2009 as the Assessing the State of Spanish-Language & Latino-Oriented Media International Conference.  This conference has since become a platform where global scholars present their research, findings and theories on the dynamics of the Hispanic/Latino media and markets in the United States, Latin America and Spain. It is the largest meeting of academics, media professionals, and students from universities in Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico and here in the United States.

The 2017 International Conference on Hispanic/Latino Media and Marketing will develop skills and provide discussion and examples of effective communication practices that aim to help community leaders to better communicate, relate, and connect with Hispanic populations.  The conference typically covers topics on media, advertising, IMC, marketing communication, public relations, telecommunication policies, media adoption and culture, among others.

Scholars, graduate students, media and communications professionals, as well as those in marketing are invited to exchange ideas, submit their research and assessments of the current situation with the Latino media audience, markets and the consumers. Submissions, in English or Spanish, will be accepted in form of competitive papers, extended abstracts, posters and special session proposals.  Accepted competitive papers will be considered for special issue in the International Journal of Hispanic MediaClick here for additional information.

The venue for the 2017 conference is California State University Fullerton, in Fullerton California, which is near Anaheim, Disneyland, and the beautiful beaches of Orange County.  The conference is being hosted by the College of Communications, its Latino Communications Initiative and the Maxwell Center for International Communications. On February 16-18, 2017, the venue for this conference will be at California State University Fullerton’s University Conference Center which is located at 800 N. State College Blvd, Fullerton CA 92831.

The Conference Objectives:

  1.  Disseminate current knowledge on marketing communication theories and media practices, with a focus on relationships and impacts on hispanic/latino communities.
  2.  Increase awareness of current and emerging challenges to media, consumer behavior and mass communication.
  3. Facilitate a forum to connect researchers and graduate students with professionals in the industry and attempt to close the gap between academia and industry.
  4. Exchange ideas and share experiences and challenges that generate ideas for further research.
